Developers are considered superhumans in many circles, with the unique ability to bring new products and ideas to life. Many new technological advancements that the world has witnessed are a result of this supergroup.

For every caped crusader, there is a utility belt or a hammer wielded in the middle of a dying star. For developers, Jigit is the ultimate tool you need in your utility belt - Our close friends at Apple have confirmed this :)

Jigit is an application for Jira Data Center that provides a development panel, which displays information about all commits and pull requests from your Git repositories referencing the issue key.

Jigit is the result of the combination of GitHub, GitLab and Jira (on-premise). Jigit combines all the functionalities of these different products into one integration for developers and teams making entire development processes faster and more efficient.

Here is how the Jigit development panel helps developers with their development processes;

  1. Better Issues Tracking:  You can associate Git entities with Jira issues this helps reduce long processes and content switching to understand progress on projects. So from your Jira issues, you can view commits, pull requests and merge requests.

             You can also reference Jira issues in their Git commits and pull requests, which provides traceability and context within the version control system.

  1. Quick & Automatic Updates: When code changes are made and pull requests are created or closed in your Git repositories, corresponding Jira issues are automatically updated, this streamlines communication between development and project management teams. Additionally, every pull request update is detailed with relevant information like checks, reviewers and dates.

The Jigit integration also supports Smart commits for transitions - For example, if you write the commit message in the form #in-progress (hash, status name without spaces), the issue will be transitioned to the status In Progress.

  1. Seamless Code Reviews: With the Jigit Development Panel, you can create code reviews that would help to quickly identify any issues or potential problems within your code. With this feature, you get the chance to make necessary changes to your code before merging it into the main branch.

           You can easily associate code changes with specific issues, making it easier to identify the source of problems and track resolutions.

  1. Clearer Planning & Transparency: The Jigit integration can also be helpful for release planning and road mapping,  the integration allows you to associate Git commits with specific releases ensuring that code changes and development efforts are aligned with project goals and requirements.

Jigit provides a secure link between Jira and GitHub/GitLab, this simply means information is pulled from your Git repositories (Github/Gitlab) directly to Jira. So you can trust that there are no information leaks and your Git repositories are secure.

Jigit is an integration built by Move Work Forward, a Platinum Atlassian Marketplace Partner. We are SOC 2 Type || complaint, this is why 5000+ businesses including Apple, Amazon, Microsoft and Google trust us.
